Shouldn’t I, at this point, be able to do a standard upgrade (through the update system), from 24.04.5 LTS to 26.04?
I could force, but prefer not to (It’s my wifes’ PC!! )
Dist: resolute
Name: Resolute Raccoon
Version: 26.04.1 LTS
Date: Thu, 23 April 2026 00:26:04 UTC
Supported: 0
Description: This is the 26.04.1 LTS release
where it notices the “Supported: 0” and thus upgrade isn’t offered, as it’s not yet supported.
I’ve written answer(s) on another site that maybe worth a look; ie.
Or just read the page that was published on this site
You can force the upgrade (do your homework first on issues & ensure you won’t be impacted by them); but for best results I do suggest waiting.
There is no scheduled date for this upgrade; its only AFTER the release of .1 point release media; with the duration of after undefined, except it’ll be until stability can be ensured as determined by the Ubuntu Release team.
“Users of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS will be offered an automatic upgrade to 26.04.1 LTS
via Update Manager a couple of weeks following this release after some planned
backports to address regressions in a recent version of rust-coreutils.”
The “planned backports” are simply not complete yet
