Unwanted entry stuck in Clipboard. Could not paste what I wanted to

Problem Description

In Kubuntu 26.04, I had a very annoying experience. Something I had placed on the clipboard hours before, remained there and was used whenever I tried to paste something else. I couldn’t paste what I wanted without rebooting.

I’ve never seen this before. Quite annoying.

Relevant System Information

The system is using Wayland.

What I’ve Tried

Looked the issue up extensively.
I tried the Clipboard icon and “the clear clipboard” option. It didn’t help.
I installed the wl-clipboard application and tried the --clear and --primary option. It made no difference.
I tried closing both the application from which I was copying (kate) and the application to which I was pasting the text (discord). That didn’t help either.
Only rebooting helped.

Two ways out wo rebooting:

1- Reset Klipper - restart the clipboard daemon in terminal: “killall klipper; klipper &”

2- The setting trap - In System Settings → Clipboard, uncheck “Prevent empty clipboard”. Otherwise, Klipper fights you every time you try to clear it :wink:

I’d mark this as solution if I could only get the problem to recur to test. But I’ve saved this page in case it happens again.
