Ubuntu Version: 24.04.4 LTS Desktop Environment (if applicable): KDE Plasma Problem Description:
Last thing I saw when shutting down last night was a system message that the Thunderbird snap was updating. Today, I’m unable to login on my email account. Thunderbird displays “Host contacted, sending login information….” and that lasts forever.
I can login to gmx on imap on Firefox, so it looks like the Thunderbird snap update upset something.
UbuntuStudio only started installing the snap version of Thunderbird a few years ago. How can I eliminate the snap version and revert to a ‘normal’ version of Thunderbird? What precautions are needed to preserve my old messages?
I tried rebooting the machine, and restarting thunderbird a dozen times without success. But now, after a couple of hours absence, another restart of thunderbird and all seems good. I can connect and collect my emails via pop3.
So it seems the problem has resolved itself - maybe even a glitch at gmx pop3 server.
