The built in webcam on my Dell Inspiron 14 7440 2-in-1 laptop is not working with Ubuntustudio 26.04. It is one of those MIPI/ipu6 cameras and used to work with 24.04. after installing the dkms kernel modules. However, with 26.04 I am getting the LED on but black screen problem again.
To me it looks as if the libcamhal drivers are missing.
On IPU6, the LED means the kernel driver is alive, but desktop apps still need v4l2-relayd and Intel’s libcamhal , which are not published for 26.04 yet
libcamhal is never in the primary archive due to Intel binary licensing, on Dell hardware Canonical distributes it via the official Dell OEM repository.
And while v4l2-relayd is in universe, it cannot stream anything without the icamerasrc element provided by that OEM HAL stack.
