Dear @Dave-mainplus ,

Would love to go but travel to Southampton is an issue. Time and cost wise via train.

Are there any plans for a Ubuntu UK Loco event in London any time soon? :slightly_smiling_face:

Yours,
York

Hi York
Thanks for the response, it is appreciated. It’s good to know that people are interested in socials even if they can’t make the Southampton gig.
The Southampton event is the first one organised by the new UK LoCo team so we are still figuring out what people want and the best locations. Consequently we don’t have any others in the pipeline just yet.

To explain why we chose Southampton

We are aware that a significant number of LoCo members are in the South but also wanted to choose a location with good transport links for those further afield. Whilst London ticked the boxes on this front we were also aware of how costly it is to stay in London and find an affordable venue that would host us (the Southampton venue is letting us meet there for free). This doesn’t mean that London is off the table for future events but we would need help (from a local?) in finding a venue (preferably free) and where there are affordable places to stay for those travelling from a distance away. If you fancy being that kind person, please let us know.

I look forward to seeing you at future get togethers

Dave

HI York

After the Southampton get together we will be looking at trying to get together a meetup for London. Interest has been expressed over on Social Media for a London one every time I post about the Southampton meetup.

Let’s get the Southampton meetup done first, then we will plan a London one.

All the best
Ernie
