Ubuntu Studio 24.01.1 to 26.04.1

Ubuntu Version

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable)

KDE Plasma

Problem Description

Upgrade from 24.04.1 to 26.04.1 fails with “Upgrade failed with the following output” - a blank window. Apparently ubuntustudio-audio-core is being kept back - but I don’t know how to resolve this?

Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse

Open a terminal and run these commands:

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade

Copy the entire output for each command and post it back here for review.

Click on the </> icon in the composer and paste the content in the grey field before saving.

Thanks

sudo apt update

Do I want to continue??

Yes you’ll want to continue. Pulseaudio is deprecated in favor of Pipewire, which it is wanting to install. You’re still stuck on the audio setup from 22.04 LTS. So just say “Y”.

After that, upgrading should work normally.
