Hi!
I recently installed ubuntu 25.10 on a legion 5 and whenever I try to restart or shutdown the system it hangs on the ubuntu and legion logo, forcing me to hold down the power button to shut down. I’ve seen a similar post saying they updated their nvidia drivers and that fixed the problem but that didn’t work for me.
Ubuntu Version
25.10
Desktop Environment
gnome
Relevant System Information
legion 5
intel 12th gen core i5-12500H
16gb ram
nvidia geforce rtx 3050 mobile
I would suggest you review my posting at the here and follow the links there for more info about
- NVIDIA drivers,
- driver versions, and
- implementing version-locking to prevent unintended/unwanted updates.
Beyond that, providing the report from the following will give the necessary hardware and system details to ensure recommendations are appropriate to your circumstances:
inxi -c2 -SGxxx

Relating to the nvidia drivers, when I initially installed ubuntu it had the option to select the drivers under additional drivers for my gpu but this is now blank and it says no proprietary drivers are in use. I also installed the nvidia settings and I only have the option to apply profiles and nvidia-settings configuration, if this is relevant.
I also tried
ubuntu-drivers devices
and it returns nothing.
