I saw this over on the Nix discourse:

I think this looks like a genuine way to improve community conflict resolution. Something Ubuntu could probably benefit from!

@popey
Your thread title is Meditation
This may also help in conflict resolution
Oops. Posted this pre-coffee. So my brain wasn’t in gear. Thanks.
Funny, I even mis-read the fixed topic as meditation and was wondering if popey is founding an Ubuntu yoga class or some such…
(This is a great initiative though!)
I’m familiar with the term ombudsman, must be before the yoga was added?
@popey this is a really cool idea! I’m not terribly familiar with the governing structure of the Nix world. Do they have a proper Community Council equivalent over there? I do see the mention of a moderation and steering committee within that post. I’m just curious how this concept could be meshed with our existing bodies and procedures.
My first thought of mediation services was dismissive, negative, and probably offensive to most.
Which means I would have just not posted anything .
Then I mulled it over in my old “Boomer” brain and mindset. ( which took a very short time)
Now comes the infamous
“BUT”
I can honestly see the value in this, and where it would probably benefit more members than I can fathom.
Bottom Line I like it.
Not so much for my personal usage but for others whom benefit from the services.
I can see a place for this.
Kudos to the NixOS community for identifying how to best use the skills of a member of their community.
This would be brilliant for this community here. Great find, hopefully something similar can be implemented here. Great idea.
