Hi, my online friends call me Slush and I’m enthused for FOSS projects. I started using Ubuntu two or three years ago, but it wasn’t until late July that I became serious about it. Speaking of FOSS projects, here’s some old screenshots I took inside a multiplayer server for a FOSS game called Mineclonia!
I don’t consider myself a gamer, but I’m obsessed with Mineclonia and the other Luanti derivatives. Lately I’ve been spending most of my free time on them (Mineclonia in particular).
The thing is, I’ve been told a few times that Ubuntu isn’t the best for gaming or my other digital activities. The reasons given vary, but the outcome’s always the same: the person recommends I outright ditch it for a different distro.
I’m not doing that.
Even if I wasn’t a tech-illiterate layperson who needs handholding (a thing at which Ubuntu excels—seriously, look at the size of this community for starters) I still want to pay my dues to the project that helped me escape Windows. I want to familiarize myself with Ubuntu, be helpful by answering others’ posts when I can, and continue learning about the wonderful world of general computing from this safe and cozy vantage point. I don’t yet know how I can capitalize on my strengths for the Ubuntu community’s benefit, but I like to think that together we’ll figure something out.
