Representatives from the Ubuntu Governance bodies along with various Canonical, flavor and community leads met virtually, on November 11th 2025 to discuss the state and future of the Ubuntu Community:

Welcome and Introductions

Disclaimer

It is important to note that the Governance Sync Meetings have a clear goal to encourage communication and collaboration between various Ubuntu Governance bodies. The sync meetings are not created to gatekeep information, nor as a replacement for proper, established Governance processes, voting and decision making.

Elections

Patch Pilot

  • Patch pilot appears to be fairly inactive compared to one year ago.
    • We had less activity recently due to the Ubuntu Engineering Sprint last week.
    • The patch pilot shift planning is done by Ravi Kant Sharma (from Canonincal Foundations).
    • We currently have 4-5 patch pilot shifts per week (each shift is 4 hours long).
    • Ravi hopes to add couple of more shifts soon.
  • Contributor pathway and guidance is needed for contributors and specifically for uploaders, motu, coredev.

Ubuntu Membership discussion

  • Track who is doing the great work in various platforms.
  • Encourage people to apply, and vote.
  • Snippets of new members, why they got their new membership. And bring in some of the long standing members with also a text quote on how they got their membership, and perhaps where they got from that.

Governance round table

  • Ubunu Unity apparently does not have uploaders.
  • Communications council reports that there is quite a good amount of work to do, but work is progressing well.
  • The Community Council is operating pretty smoothly, Communications Council is running smoothly except for worries about inability to get nominations.
  • Membership board tries to re-establish regular meetings and promote membership. applications.
