i hv upgraded from ubuntu 16.04 LTS to 18.04.5 LTS desktop. I Got no warnings except for inability in removal of the directories /var/lib/urandom and /var/lib/insserv. so i removed them forcefully using rm -rf command. on every attempt of normal restart, after grub loads rightly, my lappy-and extended monitor screen got either black, or violet/magenta… without anything visible - only mouse pointer shows up without any place for any input. i hv used advanced recovery options to be able to get here. after using advanced recovery option things seem fine… except for graphics card not proper for this monitor. can anyone really heLp?
