I tried Ubuntu on my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, I’ve heard that mostly everything work out of the box but I don’t have my speakers, microphone, or webcam. I updated windows before I installed Ubuntu so idk what the problem is. Can anyone help?
Hi all, I posted a 26.10 update with new ISO over at Ubuntu Concept 26.10 Snapdragon Edition!
Hi @rengaret , thank you. That’s a pretty useful setup explanation you have there. It also works for other x1/sc8280xp devices, only real change being the base EFI partition number (FS12: on this Ideapad 5 2in1, for example). Great to have that setup guide, thank you.
A lot of details in this thread relate to older/unsupported releases, so this thread will be closed.

Hi @glathe,
Quick test report for 7.2.5-jg-0-qcom-x1e on ASUS Vivobook S 15 (S5507Q):
What works / Improvements:
- OLED Display Brightness (
dp_aux_backlight): Works great out of the box now via/sys/class/backlight/dp_aux_backlight(aea0000.displayport-controller) and the native GNOME brightness slider. - Audio: Playback is clean again (both internal speakers and Bluetooth), the severe distortion/regression from
7.2.2is gone, althoughwsa_macro/rx_macrocache warnings are still logged indmesg. - Power consumption: ~7.9W – 8.5W on battery with Wi-Fi + Bluetooth audio + browser open (at 25% brightness).
Still missing / Hardware notes:
- Keyboard Backlight & Fn Brightness Keys: Still not exposed on the ASUS I2C EC (
i2c-3/3-003a/0018:0B05:4543.0002). Only standard HID LEDs (capslock, numlock, scrolllock, etc.) appear in/sys/class/leds/. - Unused clocks: Still running with
clk: Not disabling unused clocks(keeps idle floor around ~7.9W).
Relevant dmesg warnings/errors on boot:
[ 10.724262] qcom-apm gprsvc:service:2:1: CMD timeout for [1001021] opcode
[ 10.747805] wsa_macro 6aa0000.codec: Driver needs fixing: Unsorted reg_defaults, sorting the copy

Thanks for the build!
Victory! I finally managed to have a stable camera on the S 15. The trick is echo on | sudo tee /sys/bus/i2c/devices/1-0036/power/control, the default auto is broken.
@svi-zed you want to have a look at GitHub - NicolasDerumigny/asus-zenbook-a14-ec · GitHub that adds exactly what you are looking for. I also have GitHub - NicolasDerumigny/vivobook-s15-kb-rgb-control: Script to control keyboard RGB state of the Vivobook S15 S5507Q · GitHub to control backlight, but it is buggy / not working on EL2
Edit: I updated the code, and the rgb control is working now (and it had nothing to do with EL2 ^^’)
Damn, I was hoping we could test out the upper post limit of discourse in this thread (10000 posts is the default maximum AFAIK, only roughly 8000 missing) ![]()
Thanks @nderumig! However, on my 7.2.5-jg-0 build, I don’t have 1-0036 or any *-0036 device in /sys/bus/i2c/devices/. Are you compiling the kernel yourself with additional DTB patches for the camera, or using a specific device tree?
@nderumig Update: I spoke too soon about the volume/media keys! They actually work perfectly, they just default to the media actions (without holding Fn).
Also, the F4 (keyboard backlight) key correctly triggers the keyboard backlight OSD slider in GNOME! The physical LEDs don’t change via the key yet, but I’m happily using your vivobook-s15-kb-rgb-control script for that in the meantime.
To summarize:
- Suspend (
s2idle) is fully fixed. - Fans stop completely during sleep.
sensorsreads both fans perfectly.- Hotkeys work.
Absolutely amazing work. Let me know if you ever need me to test new commits on the ARM64 S5507Q!
@svi-zed :
- Yes, I auto-activate the fn lock (fn+esc to disable) as it is my favourite behaviour. It is a one-line patch to change it if it bothers you
. - Deep sleep even works, but power draw is too high (and I do not have the knowledge to pinpoint where this is coming from, so we’ll have to wait for upstream drivers, I believe).
- I use a specific device tree (extracted from the kernel’s one and modified with the help of LLM, so that I do not need to recompile the whole kernel
) + scripts for the camera driver: GitHub - NicolasDerumigny/asus-vivobook-S-15-S5507Q-camera-tools: Device tree and scripts to reliably use ASUS Vivobook S 15 S5507Q's camera · GitHub (packaged just for you
). It is the EL2 version, though; I have not tried booting it without slbounce+qebspil(not touching it if it’s not broken ^^’, I’m using dracut + systemd-boot, the best combo to flawlessly transition to a GUI LUKS decryption prompt).
How do we upgrade from ubuntu concept to normal ubuntu 26.10? Or can we continue using concept as it still contains extra patches? I imagine if I do ppa-purge on the x1e ppa my laptop won’t be happy.
i have slim 7x gen 1.
Weird, I tried to post to the new thread, but it posted here instead.
Ultimately who will hold the master kernels for these builds?
Hi, trying to build the vaapi driver for the iris, which gonna allowing hardware video decoding sharing it here Release qcom-vaapi 0.1.1-rc.6 — experimental AV1 · quanlou/qcom-vaapi · GitHub !
[ASUS Vivobook S15 X1P42100 - 7.1.13-jg-0-nostubble - EL1/EL2 - Ubuntu 26.04 with LUKS-LVM]
Thanks @rengaret for your super helpful description of your setup.
I may be a bit late to the UEFI co-processor loader qebspil, but I can confirm it enables my Vivobook X1P42100 to boot into EL2 with /dev/kvm and to have sound out of my HDMI port and the laptop speakers. Until now I usually booted into EL1 to get my speakers going, but had to reboot into EL2 if I needed to fire up my KVMs. Now, I can live in EL2 world, and have the those funky beats coming at me.
To enable sound out of speakers I extended my existing EL2 setup (with slbounce ) with:
- copy
qebspilaa64.efiinto/boot/efi/EFI/slbounce/ - create directory
/boot/efi/firmware/qcom/x1p42100/ASUSTeK/vivobook-s15and copy the following files into it from/usr/lib/firmware/updates/qcom/x1p42100/ASUSTeK/vivobook-s15adsp_dtbs.elfcdsp_dtbs.elfqcadsp8380.mbnqccdsp8380.mbn
- edit
/boot/efi/startup.nshto insert this line before the load slbounce line:
load \EFI\slbounce\qebspilaa64.efi
Then you just boot up as usual into EL2. You’ll (briefly!) get messages after you load the el2 devicetree along these lines:
