Ubuntu -> Cinnamon problem (lightdm background)

Hi,

I have since a few years Ubuntu, from which I proceeded to install & use the cinnamon desktop.

Yesterday I upgraded.

In Ubuntu 26.04 the desktop is empty, mouse does not work.

Issue is probably Wayland, I do not know yet.

Also Cinnamon experimental or SW rendering or Mate do not work properly.
If this is your issue, and cannot login with a working environment, then do:
Ctrl+Alt+F4
Login as user, then type:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
**
reboot**

Next time login with the standard Cinnamon, it should work.

If I understand it properly Cinnamon still has some issues with Wayland, and lightdm properly sets Cinnamon to work with X11.

There is only one huge problem which still bugs me. At the login…

Do you see it? I cannot sleep.

I personally haven’t seen this..

Setting draw-grid=true to false in /etc/lightdm/slick-greeter.conf should solve this.

I love it. There’s always a config or a bash command in Linux.

At work I always have to find where WinXP configs are hidden behind the updated Win8, 9, 10, 11 panels.
