Ubuntu broke

Ubuntu Version:
Example: 24.04 LTS Pro

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME

Problem Description:
Hello! After 10 months, my Ubuntu broke. It does not shut down properly, and some apps no longer work (e.g., OBS Studio, Kate, and RStudio). I’ve seen many “solutions,” but none have worked. I think I need to do a clean installation, so I have a few questions:
. I have a PRO token for Ubuntu for one machine.
. After the new installation, will I need a new token, or can I use the same one?
. Do I need to cancel the old token first, and then install Ubuntu again?
. What is the procedure?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Relevant System Information:
Dell core i5 3rd generation 8mb ram

Screenshots or Error Messages:
Black screen with Dell Logo and Ubuntu logo. Freeze and PC do not shutdown.

What I’ve Tried:
Forcing power off but the problem returns when I shutdown again.

Before Posting:
I did not find any problem or answer for that.

Welcome. You use the same token which is good for 5 machines. It will be accomplished immediately after your re-install Ubuntu on the computer and re-boot during the welcome to Ubuntu series of screens. It is self explanatory in that it walks you through the procedure. Make sure you back up all of your data, bookmarks, passwords, etc before re-installing.

Thank you very much.

I’ll add a link to the Ubuntu Pro FAQ

There are other sites too, as Ubuntu Pro is a Canonical service; you’re best contacting them for many questions & answers.

If you detach a system that machine’s usage of your token will be removed straight away; if however the machine becomes unusable or whatever; it will still be using one of your (machine_count) tokens, at least until the Canonical infrastructure reaches a timeout threshold, and that connection is detached for you (through lack of use).

If you can; detach the install first; but as @rexbouwense has already stated; given you have five machines, unless you’re planning to connect 3 more rather quickly; you could just be patient and you’ll end up with the old install timing out anyway in due course.

Another non-Ubuntu (support) site link talking about the issue is
