amd64 ISO build continues to fail, it seems like the error is always the same error: “cannot download: no snap revision available as specified: “pc”, “pc-kernel” no one can correct it?

Ran into an error today in running apt dist-upgrade for the second time in stonking where it reports error with firefox??? Tried to run -f install . . . nothing showed up to do. Ran a sudo snap refresh and it upgrades cups and firefox snaps . . . but back to apt dist-upgrade and errors out, leaving “6 packages not upgraded”?? Don’t know if this is the same issue that @corradoventu hit, or another one? I am typing this in firefox and stonking, but haven’t logged out after running the apt dist-upgrade process.

:~$ sudo snap refresh

firefox 151.0.3-1 from Mozillaâś“ refreshed

I am confused. It is my understanding Firefox is snap packaged and that APT does not work on snap packages.

Have you also installed the Debian packaged version of Firefox. What channel is the Firefox snap package set to?

I don’t know . . . Lubuntu is one of 8 linux distros that I have installed on this machine, so I don’t mess with them. In debian & ubuntu I run apt . . . and earlier I did see that when I ran apt dist-upgrade that “firefox” was showing in the list of upgrades. I haven’t or hadn’t run a “snap refresh” in Lubuntu for a few weeks, didn’t get any notification on needing to refresh snaps. In my other distros I don’t use or try to avoid snaps, so I’m not tuned into the details of it.

I ran the apt dist-upgrade, it errored out showing some issue with firefox, earlier before clicking “y” there was a package shown to “autoremove” so I ran “autoremove” and it showed a bunch of other data, coming back again to a “dpkg” type error . . . so then I remembered that there is a snap aspect to firefox, so I ran a general “snap refresh” and it updated two of them.

But then again running the dist-upgrade showed errors . . . . So I posted here. From vague memory I do recall in another distro that I might have had to remove one firefox install to either get rid of the snaps or to change it over to the snaps. But, this install of Lubuntu now goes back about two years to when I first built the machine . . . I just run the distro and then upgrade to the testing version every few months via editing the repos . . . it’s not a fresh install, it’s a fresh upgrade.

That is to say, I don’t know what channel the FF snap package is set to . . . . I use FF in all of my distros, but I don’t pick a channel or whatever . . . .

[edit]I tried to upload a screenshot from synaptic showing FF installed as 1:1snap1-0ubuntu8 . . . no other version of FF is showing as installed. But it failed to upload the image.

Yes, but the debian stub is there to meet depends requirements (as otherwise snap packages wouldn’t be seen), let alone allowing a release-upgraded system to switch from deb to snap when required (many have complained about this; but the consequences would be worse for most users if it wasn’t done in my opinion) etc… And that stub was recently changed, as can be see in https://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/f/firefox/firefox_1snap1-0ubuntu9/changelog

I noticed an error earlier this morning myself, but I’ve not looked into issue (busy with other things). I’m currently using the GNOME desktop, but have other flavor desktops installed and my message on this mornings update include

==> Installing the firefox snap
error: cannot install "firefox_beta": feature flag validation failed for snap "firefox_beta":

This maybe a bug (needing a bug report), but I’ve not looked far enough to decide that yet.

I see the same problem and have submitted a bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/2155791

Fix now in proposed:

sudo apt install firefox/stonking-proposed

Thanks gents for the engagement . . . does look like the same issue that we have hit. I’ll add myself to the bug report . . . .

Doesn’t seem to be any email notification on posts here???

Hi.
The short answer is “this is another architecture of CPUs, like ARM (this one is also a RISC-arch), but another one”. As I remember, AMD and Intel CPUs are CISC-arch.

I Installed yesterday’s Image 6/20. I reused my efi partition and gave myself a larger Swap partition “5G, increased my root partition to 38G . I was a smooth easy install.

In addition multiple updates damaged my samba local network. There are a few updates to the process but the result of the changes is a completely easy and decent network. I saved off the .conf file from the first system and then reused it on my other systems. Not a big headache like in the past.

I have tried to install 06/17/2026 daily build for Kubuntu but always fails in the “Install” screen. So, when I click on “Install” button and then do the confirm it crashes. Anyone know how to debug this?

I am using VMware Workstation on Windows. I have Kubuntu 26.04 installed just fine.

Below is the crash window.

Have you filed a bug report for this??

The calamares installer is supported not by Ubuntu Desktop/Server/Foundations teams, but by three flavors (esp. Lubuntu & Kubuntu).

You actually show the crash window, but I don’t see any report being filed as I check now (only report made in last ~8 hours is for resolute or 26.04, unless it was marked private & I thus can’t see it [yet]); did you actually file the crash report?

If dialogs don’t offer the option to do it, before you shutdown the live system where you attempted install, just enter

No, I haven’t reported this one or at least automatic reporting will not work.

We use deep packet inspection (or whatever the name is), so I have to import Corp root certificate before it will work properly.
