A post was split to a new topic: Slack and Steam snaps
Just got the 7.0.0-12 kernel and it’s having real trouble with my system. It’s freezing during boot up if I leave it be. If I boot to recovery then resume bootup, it will come up but only my main monitor is working. The two side monitors are off.
The USB ports are also not being detected or it’s often displaying “permission denied”.
I tried fixing it with different commands, but it’s not being detected at all. Same problem with my mouse. It stopped working, then I figured out it was a universal port problem on my computer.
Hello,
I try to place two applications, like ptyxis terminal and text editor or nautilus, side by side. What I notice is that at the moment the apps are tiled, the mouse will change to thinking mode for some time time, until I am able to resize the windows. Has anyone noticed the same behavior?
Regards!
I am replying to myself. I eventually got in contact through the ubuntu-translation mailing list,
Summary
@ Ckaus7
I am seeing the busy cursor on some apps, on my system with AMD graphics. I do not have this issue on the system with NVIDIA graphics.
I am new here and haven’t quite figured out who posts here or what the specific topic is. I hope I’m not hijacking the thread. But anyway…
Using the latest beta fully upgraded as of this morning. With nvidia 580 I can’t use showtime, which crashes whenever I try to launch a file. If I install nvidia-595, showtime works but I lose all audio (replaced by “dummy”). I imagine it’s a dkms issue but haven’t figured out how to get both showtime and audio to work at the same time. Not particularly bothered about it at this point in beta, I just find it interesting.
@drs305 Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse ![]()
Great to see you here!!!
As far as posting about the next development release, you are exactly in the right place.
If you need any help with navigating or familiarizing yourself with Discourse, please feel free to reach out to me anytime, I mean that.
Hello drs305 I am glad you are here it’s been a long time since I have seen you.
Hey Wild Man, yeah, I guess it’s been at least 6-8 years or more since I “retired” from my Ubuntu Forums moderator position. But I’ve been a loyal Ubuntu user since Dapper with no breaks… ![]()
Greetings to any other graybeards out here, but I won’t junk up this thread with any more individual shoutouts. (No disrespect intended)
Hello,
thanks for the input. I was thinking to fill a bug report. I’m facing it under intel graphics too. Cannot check nvidia. ssd or hdd is irrelevant. I checked it a little bit more by using another tiling extension (smart tiling) and saw that the extension doesn’t affect the result, and I think that the program affected the most is gnome-text-editor, so I took the decision to mention this package for the bug report.
The link of the bug report is here: Bug #2148049 “busy cursor when opening the program” : Bugs : gnome-text-editor package : Ubuntu
Regards!
Hello,

Hello,
for those of you that you were moderators, some of you were keeping your avatars and red colored names unchanged for years. Wild man, who I think had a slightly different name back in UF, seems that kept that figure from the old times. The purple avatar of drs305 makes things more difficult for my gray-ish memory to remember. Greetings anyway!
Regards!
