The same happens with Snaps. It’s particularly annoying with Firefox. I’m not exactly sure which package I should report the bug to.
For me kernel update did not damage the grub.
But about cursors on some apps are not changing properly.
It is strange the cursor in firefox is fine for me though.

That is something I’d miss, my zsync script shows parts of a diff which highlights changes since I last downloaded the ISO (by comparing manifest files, newly downloaded vs prior download)
Lubuntu’s current ISO (I downloaded a few hours ago; alas yet to have time to use it yet) found a manifest, but it’s an older ISO than your pending build.

The manifest file is what I tend to use, so I’m happy.
The new installer has a critical issue when configuring the keyboard layout. This affects the installation process.
During installation, either the installer or the user will configure a local keyboard layout. The new installer will set the keyboard layout to a single local keyboard layout, with no option to switch to an English layout. The effect is that when you are asked later to specify a hostname and create a user account, you will not be able to do so, because you cannot type in English. Both your hostname and your username has to be in English. Those affected include Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, etc keyboard layouts.
Note that this issue exists since 24.04 LTS.

Since yesterday’s updates, the icons on Gnome’s app grid are smaller and all fit on one screen…. Also, got a spinning cursor on a lot of apps when they are already open. Everything was working nice before, now it’s running like crap. Transmission still doesn’t launch. This is going beta in two days…
All apps fit on one screen… up to 50 icons. Cursor remains spinning until you move it out of app window.
Up to 50 icons on my 1920x1080 but less icons on smaller monitors.

Is the new icon size in the App Grid here to stay? They’re way too small now. Even though more of them fit on the screen, I feel like there’s way too much spacing between them—it’s especially distracting when you open a folder.

The recently released 26.04 beta download directory is missing WSL image for 64-bit PC (AMD64) architecture. Where can I find out more about the reason for that?
Ok, I have noticed that on another server linked from the release announcement the image for WSL is present:
Answering my own question. The got the search domains set in /etc/resolv.conf by setting UseDomains=yes in /etc/systemd/networkd.conf (at-least when using netplan/networkd only, haven’t tested when using network-manager).
I just installed the Beta. Here are my three thorny issues.
- The translations that I did two weeks ago, have not been included in the Beta. I am unable to verify my translations and fix any issues before the actual release. I expected that the Beta release would scoop up any new translations and add them.
- The Weblate translation service has a feature to designate a person as reviewer so that they approve the translation strings. There are some such reviewers in a few other languages. I found a few discussions related to Weblate and asked to be added as a reviewer. There has been no reply whatsoever. My translations remain “unapproved”.
- The new installer (using Flutter) does not set dual keyboard layouts during the installation, which means that you do not get to type English while in the installation. Therefore, you cannot type a valid username. This has been happening since Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

App center throws an error “Something went wrong” when I try to install any debs from it. gdebi exits after being given credentials to install any package.
Still unable to use annotation tools in Papers. It seems to crash the whole session.
