I just thought I’d give a little feedback about my experience. It is an absolutely perfect replacement for Windows with the default Gnome desktop. I installed the Linux-surface kernel and only installed the Add To Desktop extension and activated a few system extensions. Although I use it mainly as a couch device, I set it up to access all my daily applications and they all work as expected. Even the standard on screen keyboards haven’t been an issue as that was my main concern when testing other desktop versions. This is the only one that work well enough out of the box to use.
I have been using it for a couple of months now and don’t see myself changing it.
