Ubuntu 24.04 Suddenly PC unable to receive files over Bluetooth

Ubuntu Support Template

Ubuntu Version:
24.04

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
Example: GNOME, KDE Plasma, XFCE, Budgie, etc.

Problem Description:
I’m trying to send a .jpg from my phone to the PC. Previously I’ve had no problem, so something has changed. Sending from pc to phone still works fine. When the transfer is started the pc displays that the file is incoming but after about 30 seconds it reports the transfer has failed! I’m no expert so please keep it simple.

I will just add that the same issue occurs with my wife’s android phone.

I’ve discovered how to make it work and that is by going into Bluetooth setting, Local services and selecting the Download folder and Accept files from trusted devices.

The only issue remaining is how do I make these settings permanent and not have to update them every time? Thanks.

OK I’ve found an answer. I installed dconf Editor. That gave me access to blueman transfer shared path and that allowed me to enter the Downloads folder which is a permanent setting. Might prove useful to someone one day ! Cheers.
