Ubuntu 24.04 go back to GA kernel 6.8

Ubuntu Version: 24.04

Desktop Environment: GNOME

Problem Description: if i have problems with kernel 6.14 and go back to GA kernel 6.8
my system is still supported?
Thanks

Note: question is for a friend having the problem, my 24.04 works fine with kernel 6.14 like my 25.10 w kernel 6.15

I was under the impression that the GA kernel is supported until April 2029.

Depending on the 24.04 media used to install your system, you can actually have the GA kernel stack installed, and yes it is supported for the life of the release.

Ubuntu Server media defaults to GA stack, and all Ubuntu flavors 24.04 and the 24.04.1 first point release media installed the GA kernel stack (HWE is default for flavors for the .2 and higher point release media).

I have a Ubuntu 24.04 LTS system here where I switched to the GA kernel stack as it was a workaround to get all my displays working easily that made sense to me (that system still has the HWE stack installed; and I may get to exploring a fix for that someday, but that isn’t high priority for me).
