Taiwan LoCo’s interests or thoughts for hosting UCA’26?
Taiwan LoCo is interested, but they don’t have a good number of volunteers in Ubuntu Taiwan. Will need to bring more volunteers from other local FOSS communities.
Possible communities to contact - Hacking Thursday, Mozilla Taiwan, COSCUP team, OCF.
COSCUP Co-location format?
- We probably don’t have the main hall allocated just for us. We need to ask the COSCUP team for one keynote session.
- 2 community tracks (1 for talks, 1 for workshops + bofs) → Looking at LibreOffice and RubyConf, this could be only a single track. But this needs to be checked.
- Our returning international sponsors - can ask them to sponsor COSCUP instead.
- Expand the Ubuntu Taiwan LoCo booth to the Ubuntu Community booth to a larger size if possible. (Folks from TW LoCo, UCA Committee, other Ubuntu folks involved with running the booth)
- Probably no travel grant or accommodation handling from our (UCA) side. Redirect folks to self-fund or ask them to apply for COSCUP’s travel grant if they are a speaker and such a grant exists, or apply for Ubuntu CDA if they are a Ubuntu Member
- No registration (just follow COSCUP)
- We still run our own CFP using Canonical Indico, proposal review, and timetable scheduling. And, also have our own website for providing some practical information. → We will also need to check if we will need to run a joint content team with COSCUP and use their system (pretalx)
- We can still do promotion campaigns to gather international participants.
Bayu’s experience with LibreOffice co-located in COSCUP
- Got 1 dedicated room (track)
- RubyConf also got 1 room - but bigger?
Syazwan
- We’ll also need to consider running our own budget. But maybe a small one for our speakers and some swags.
- We should also check if they can also handle video for us (and also if we will need to pay for that)
What kind of budget do we need?
- Travel funding for our speakers (some non-Ubuntu Members)
- For our own swags
