Typing and other issues with browsers and system

  1. When typing in browsers like Google Chrome and Edge, the input method’s preedit panel jumps/flickers around constantly. The experience is so poor that it can’t compare to any other operating system.
  2. When launching Google Chrome and Edge (which I installed via Flatpak), the mouse cursor stays busy for about 15 seconds.
  3. The ecosystem lags behind, with many software applications missing.

@kentrl I edited your topic title to something more useful for the volunteers here.

We understand that English is not your native language but please, please help us by making titles and posts as descriptive as possible.

We are also missing important information:

  • which Ubuntu version?
  • what are the computer specifications?

Please provide this information so the volunteers have a better idea of how to help.

Thanks

What exactly does this mean? Provide examples, with screenshots if needs be. This is too vague for someone to be able to assist you.

Sometimes it’s also difficult for normal people to report an issue, maybe providing a dropdown to select a browser and OS version or even detecting it automatically would be great for people.

Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse

When users start a new topic in the Support category they are presented with the template we created for this.

However, since it is optional and not an obligation…some use it very effectively, others not.

I will raise your idea at the next moderator meeting.

Thanks for the input.

Under Wayland, the Chinese Pinyin IME preedit panel blocks the text input field, and sometimes it appears at random positions on the screen. This greatly impacts daily usage. I hope this bug can be fixed as soon as possible. Thank you

Thank you @kentrl for adding as much information as possible. It really helps make things easier for the volunteers here.

Unfortunately, I suspect this is something that needs to be reported as a bug/feature request upstream.

@ogra, would you agree? If yes, where should the user report this and against what?

I guess the ibus or ibus-pinyin packages might be a good start here … indeed using something like ubuntu-bug ibus
