Trying to create new disk with starting disk creator

I am trying to setup a new disk using the disk creator. In my machine I have two things. I have the usb disk creator and a blank usb ssd drive. The creator comes up ans ask if I want to create a new disk. When I do that my screen goes blank. I have no idea what is going on other than the creator usb is blinking pretty steady.

My question is whether its doing nothing or doing something and if I made a mistake what is it?

Thank you…

You asked the very same question four weeks ago already…

To repeat what I said back then: you do never use the startup disk creator to write to an SSD but to create an USB installation stick…

Attach the SSD to the machine, boot from the USB stick you created, the installer will start and you pick the SSD as your target device for the installation…

For reference:

Ah… I have the creator created and then I boot it up. I have two things in this system. I have the created usb made by the creator which I ran and an empty 1tb ssd, That’s it. I am doing what you said I should be doing.

My problem, again, is that when I press the first question, ie. create a new disk. Everything goes blank. Then I get a string of things that I think is the problem. They ALL they something about ‘EDID’. I think it has to do with the ssd cards but am not sure. I have used gparm to clean them up and put a new, single, empty partition. I have disks to do the same thing. When I look at disks it tells me its empty. I am doing something wrong but cannot figure it out.

Thank you for the reply…

Here is a tutorial:

At the end it links to a next tutorial about how to use the installer

PS: EDID is a standard used by monitors to tell the graphics card about the monitors capabilities (resolutions, refresh rates and their combinations the screen can handle)

PPS: you do not need to bother with partitions, the installer will do all this for you once you booted from the created USB stick
