Touchscreen is not detected as a device

Hello,

I’m trying to refurbish an old laptop and I’m having issues with the touchscreen.

The touchscreen is operational as it works on the boot screen, I can use it to enter the BIOS however, it does not work as soon as I pass the boot screen and is not detected as an input.

What I’ve Tried:

xinput does not list the touchscreen as a pointer.

Ubuntu Version:
24.04.2 LTS

How old?
Make and model?

When you boot the into a live session, Ubuntu 24.04 defaults to X11
After installation, the default is Wayland

Reboot and change to Xorg
Any good?

It’s a Fujitsu Lifebook T730.

I booted with Xorg and the touchscreen is still not detected.

And yet, you still don’t let us know how old it is?

Loaded with 2GB of RAM, a 160GB 5400rpm hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional (32-bit)

Is the above info correct?
Is the PC 32-bit or Windows 7 installed in 32-bit and the PC is 64-bit?

A 64-bit PC 16 years old would be better served with Xubuntu 24.04 or Lubuntu 24.04.

Try one in a live session and report back?
