Today's updates to Ubuntu 22.04 (LXQt desktop)

I just did the System Upgrade “thing” and rebooted as requested.

I now get:

[ 9.966576] piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: SMBus Controller not enabled!
[ 11.723803] sd 32:0:0:0: [sda] Assuming drive cache: wrtie through
You are in emergency mode.

Now what do I do? journalctl -xb shows me lots of stuff but nothing jumps out at me.

Yes I can restore the system if necessary
David

Hmm After trying selection of various kernels I just did a Ctrl-D at that prompt and it all came up normally???

Baffled

Lubuntu 22.04 LTS was released in 2022-April (thus 22.04) with 3 years of supported life. It’s now EOL or End of Life.

Lubuntu 22.04 LTS will be supported for 3 years until April 2025. Our main focus will be on this and future releases.

There have been no updates for Lubuntu.

You’re likely asking about Ubuntu updates, as Ubuntu 22.04 LTS is still supported.

I suggest you’re now using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with the LXQt desktop, as Lubuntu doesn’t support 22.04 any longer.

It looks like @guiverc is correct and you are now on Ubuntu 22.04, which is still supported.

Are there any issues remaining that need resolved?

Some commands lack precision when reporting the OS installed.
The following commands only indicate the base system e.g. Ubuntu

lsb_release -a
cat /etc/os-release
hostnamectl

So far, I have only found one command, which reports the OS correctly

mark@hpstream11:~$ inxi -S
System:
  Host: hpstream11 Kernel: 6.8.0-60-generic arch: x86_64 bits: 64

Whether or not its Ubuntu or Lubuntu I don’t see as really matters; however as Lubuntu 22.04 LTS is EOL, it’s off-topic.

If you read Welcome To Support And Help you’ll note flavor support is specifically mentioned; as its three years for a LTS, as only Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server and specific products were extended from 3 years to 5 years for LTS.

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, which is the base OS used by all Ubuntu flavors, is still a supported system, which was why I made my prior suggestion.

If the question is about Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with LXQt, to me the question can be treated as being on-topic here (and other support sites too), but if it’s about Lubuntu 22.04 LTS then as that release is EOL, it’s off-topic on numerous sites including this one.

My comment could be seen as a hint, rather than me trying to act as a moderator and start closing a question as off-topic.

Yeah it’s Ubuntu 22.04 with LxQt

So ON TOPIC - how to change the tag?
