Hi all,
Lubuntu 24,04,3 LTS with LXQt desktop
I have a weird problem. I had some problem with Thunderbird. Desinstalled it via Discovery then reinstalled it. However it doesn’t show up.
I did it twice more. Still can’t find Thunderbird.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Can you start it with a terminal?
I recently had a couple prorams that for some reason didn’t create a .desktop file when installed. I had to make them manually.
If you press ALT+F2 and type “thunder” does it show and does it launch?

Everything works now.
my next challenge is to get Thunderbird to work with my imported Windows profile.
Thanks!

Is your Thunderbird install a deb or a snap? I have done many transfers from and to both types and bringing windows profiles over.

Thunderbird must be opened once and then closed again and not be running to proceed.
Have your old Thunderbird profile folder easily accessible .
Open your Home > snap > thunderbird > common folder.
You should see “folder is empty”. Press ctrl+h on keyboard and three folders will appear.
Open the .thunderbird folder then the xxxxxxxxx.default-release folder.
Select all and shift+del
Select all files from within the old profile folder copied from windows or wherever you copied from and paste into the new empty profile folder.
Close file explorer and launch Thunderbird.
