I will be in the houston and hill country of texas this week, are there any texas ubuntu groups in that area?
I guess yes, but I am not sure if they are still active.

There are groups listed in both the Houston area HoustonTeam - Ubuntu Wiki and Central Texas CenTexTeam - Ubuntu Wiki. However, both of the WiKi pages appear to be neglected. One hasn’t been edited since 2008 and the other 2010. There is a Houston Linux User Group that appears to be active https://www.meetup.com/houston-linux-user-group/. You can probably get more information by doing an on line search.
