Suggestion: A New Project Discussion Subcategory for AI

Hi all,

I’m following the topics discussed in various forums here, and I wanted to suggest to add a subcategory for Artificial Intelligence. The goal is to consolidate discussions around how generative AI models are being integrated into complete software systems, which mostly run on Ubuntu.

The AI research community is converging on the idea that it’s not just about the AI models, but about the AI systems around these models, how they collaborate, how they access data, how they secure privacy, how they add guardrails, and how they improve systems for certain use-cases. This brings more of the capabilities of the AI systems to the OS as a substrate for trust and reliability.

So, the goal of this subcategory is to discuss systems, projects and ideas related to AI within Ubuntu, and how we can build better AI systems.

We’ve been having some discussions about consolidating and reorganizing the entire Project Discussion section, including sub-categories.

It certainly makes sense to me to have a separate sub-category for AI discussions.

Hopefully, @aaronprisk can offer some insights as to when this would happen and whether it makes sense to add a new sub-category now or to wait.
