Status of Ubuntu support for Lenovo ThinkPad X13s

Thanks, didn’t manage to make audio work again

On another note, the network once again cut out randomly, requiring me to reload the ath10k drivers as described earlier in this thread -_-
I really hope this will not be a permanently reoccuring issue.

I don’t recognize those audio problems at all. Though I use Bluetooth headphones all the time when wanting sound, so perhaps I just haven’t noticed.

Regarding network, I only use my X13s in two different locations (presently) and thus only two networks. The network sometimes cut out for a about 10-20 seconds and then come back (without any manual intervention) on my home network, but I have totally different devices (TV etc) that do the same, perhaps less frequent, but that is hard to tell (the TV buffers everything I think).

Any files you want to compare @tjenare ?

@tjenare Does helvum show anything different from the screenshot that I posted above?

Just for information, my helvum looks identical to the posted by @juergh

Which kernel module is responsible for camera support, and which kernel log message could indicate if camera was or didn’t recognized?

qcom-camss and ov5675 or whatever the sensor driver is. There’s not much in the kernel log:

I may just suck at following instructions but when i select power off (im using unofficial Nobel ISO) it just restarts. Any ideas?

I just wish there was a way to use Netflix or Amazon Prime Video on the X13s. All the scripts and stuff (eg to extract files from ChromeOS or whatever works on Raspi etc) do not work for the X13s. :frowning:

@tjenare you could try GitHub - tobhe/widevine-installer at snap and switch to the chromium snap edge branch snap refresh --channel latest/edge chromium. That worked last time I tried

No, that doesn’t work. That gives “error M7701-1003”.
(Did the snap command, seemed successful, installed the script, also seemed successful, even gave a "good news blabla no need to weaken blabla"msg. I logged out+back in as suggested might be needed.
I also checked that “Sites can play protected content” option is enabled in chromium. And I tried making a new profile just for this.)

The path in $HOME/snap/chromium/common/chromium/WidevineCdm/latest-component-updated-widevine-cdm is incorrect:

sed -i "s|/home/user/|$HOME/|" $HOME/snap/chromium/common/chromium/WidevineCdm/latest-component-updated-widevine-cdm

With that, I see widevine with chromium when browsing to bitmovin.com/demos/drm.

Thanks, forgot to remove the placeholder! Let me fix that in my tree too.

My ~/snap/chromium/common/chromium/WidevineCdm has exactly 1 file in it, latest-component-updated-widevine-cdm, which contains this line:
{"Path":"/home/tjenare/config/chromium/WidevineCdm/4.10.2710.0"}
This should be correct, no? It was already like this, I didn’t need to sed/edit anything. Why does it not work? I get “-” for “widevine” on that drm test page:

The only thing I did was installing it exactly as you suggested and as I described. That means you have done something else in addition? Maybe because you are already familiar with the process and have installed/configured something?

{"Path":"/home/tjenare/config/chromium/WidevineCdm/4.10.2710.0"} is incorrect.

Rerun widevine-installer from tobhe’s github repo, snap branch.

Oh thanks, so I got the wrong branch on first try.
This looks correct now and the drm test page says widevine is ok this time.
However, in Netflix I now receive error “E100” for any video I click. Googling that only seems t bring up Android device stuff that doesn’t apply here. Do you have any idea maybe?

You might need to tinker with the User Agent for Netflix (IIRC they only support chrome or did that change ?)

Hm, amazon prime works, ie I can play it in chromium, BUT suddenly I get no sound in chromium anymore! Since i installed the widevine stuff, all tabs, even youtube are producing no sound at all (mixer shows silence) even though the tabs aren’t muted and volume is turned up.

In firefox the sound still works, but when i try to play an amazon prime video I get “widevinecmd plugin crashed” everytime (and the video doesnt play).
(And in firefox netflix doesnt work at all either, gives an error F7702-1003 here.)

Do I need to install some specific codec from ubuntu repo or anything?

Today I tried to attach an USB-C case with an 8TB NVMe SSD. This works fine on my AM64-Arch-Desktop, so the devices are ok. However, on this X13s I get this eternal error loop in dmesg:

Has anyone tried out 25.04 that came out yesterday yet, if it’s possible to lead a normal life with the X13s on that? I’m scared to update after what happened last time using do-release-upgrade that left the system in an unusable state forcing to do a full reinstall despite being a simple straightforward process. Pretty insane that that went live through any sort of testing process, considering how many people it would affect. Did that command (script?) get fixed meanwhile?

Edit:
About widevine, as I cannot edit the old post and neither can I write another response due to this forum’s settings:

I managed to fix the E100 error and start a Netflix video by changing the user agent to “Chrome - Chrome OS”.
However, still all of Chromium has no more audio output since I ran the widevine-installer script you linked.
How can I debug/fix that, please?

Also I noticed that manifest.json says:
“sub_package_path”: “_platform_specific/cros_arm64/”
but the actual folder name is:
_platform_specific/linux_arm64/
Is that right?
