SQL Server 2025 is generally available on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Microsoft has announced the General Availability of SQL Server 2025 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

This release brings significant improvements for Linux administrators, including new Dynamic Management Views (DMVs) for OS-level observability and native vector support for AI workloads.

Great to see SQL Server 2025 reaching GA on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

The added observability improvements (especially new DMVs) and native vector support are particularly interesting from a Linux operations perspective. It’s good to see continued investment in first-class Linux support.

Looking forward to testing it in a production-style workload.
