Running Ubuntu Unity 24.04.2LTS on a Lenovo ThinkPad T530. It has started acting flaky in regards to the sound support. I get the boot-up sound when the signon screen appears and the bucklef daemon is producing the expected sounds as I press the keys. The Audacious music player also plays music without issue as do the Windows apps running under WINE. However, the sound icon in the top bar is slashed out and nothing else (Firefox, Chrome, VLC) produces any sound. Opening the Sounds settings reveals there isn’t any output device detected. What is going on???
The last time this happened a reboot resolved it but now that isn’t helping.
