In Login Screen (SDDM) settings, I select:
“Apply Plasma Settings…”
In the pop-up list of settings to be applied, that list includes:
" * Screen configuration (Wayland only)"
I have 3 monitors, one inverted and one left-side up.
When I log out or reboot the login window does not use the rotated monitor screen configuration from Wayland.
As a workaround I would be happy to set the login prompt window to appear only on the primary monitor (which has normal rotation), and use a plain colour wallpaper to hide the rotation issue.
I can’t find a way to set this however.
This is extremely similar to an issue we found when I was working for Kubuntu Focus and we found that different monitors would get the resolution of whatever monitor connected first (not necessarily the main monitor!). We did patch it at that time.
Unfortunately, sddm doesn’t remember Plasma settings for monitors. In fact, sddm isn’t even a KDE project! And, unfortunately, I’m fairly certain screen rotation and layout aren’t honored by sddm and might even be related to this issue. Unfortunately, after skimming that, no known workaround exists.
I hate to say this, but you may very well be stuck until that gets resolved.
This makes sense because sometimes the monitor layout is different, including the boot splash.
I guess it’s the split second difference in monitor connection times.
I assume I should stick with SDDM, not keen on changing DM and creating more problems.
Normally the lock screen login respects monitor settings after suspend. I understand the lock screen is a different program to the start-up login screen.
I thought I preferred XFCE but I’m really enjoying the extra features of KDE.
