Hi. I’m Aaron Rainbolt (launchpad profile at https://launchpad.net/~arraybolt3), and I would like to run for a seat on the Ubuntu Communications Council.
At the moment, I am a member of the Ubuntu Communications Council, Ubuntu Community Council, and am a Matrix Operator. I was previously a member of the Community Moderation Effort on Matrix (though I have since voluntarily left in order to focus my efforts on Ubuntu-related tasks more), and I technically have Ubuntu Discourse moderator privileges, although I don’t actually do much moderating on Discourse. I was also a member of the former Ubuntu Matrix Council and was involved with the Ubuntu Matrix initiative very early on.
My experience as a member of the above teams has helped me learn a lot about the internal processes of many of Ubuntu’s communications platforms (Matrix, Discourse, and mailing lists primarily). Working on CME and the Community Council has also helped me gain a lot of experience with conflict resolution and de-escalation, and when necessary, censorship of spam and harmful messaging. I’m generally online for most of every day except for the Sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, US central time), so I’m usually easy to reach and able to handle emergencies or other problematic situations as they arise.
I believe the above skills and experience would make me a good fit for running on the Ubuntu Communications Council for another term.
Thank you for your consideration ![]()
