Samsung Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 NP960QHA-KG2DE, No Audio from Speakers

Ubuntu: 26.04LTS (developement branch)

I noticed that the Speakers of my galaxy book 5 pro 360 dont work in any Linux distro, i tried with Ubuntu 24.04LTS, 25.04, 25.10 and others like ZorinOS and Manjaro but no luck there either.

Microphone works normaly

Output via Headphone Jack, HDMI and Bluetooth works perfectly Normal just internal Speakers not working

Im Kinda new with this so if i could get them fixed it would be pretty Nice

This is a known Linux hardware support issue on Samsung Galaxy Book devices (including Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360), not a misconfiguration.

The internal speakers use a Realtek ALC298 smart amplifier that is detected by Linux, but the speaker amp is not initialized automatically, so you get no sound from internal speakers, while mic / headphones / HDMI / Bluetooth work normally.
This has been widely reported by other users across distros.

A common and working workaround is the community script galaxybook-linux-setup, which initializes the speaker amplifier using hda-verb and applies the fix at boot:

git clone https://github.com/topzyray/galaxybook-linux-setup.git
cd galaxybook-linux-setup
chmod +x install.sh
./install.sh
sudo reboot

Until proper kernel support is added, this is currently the most reliable solution.

Hi i tried the Workaround and even installed PulseAudio and uninstalled PipeWire audio for it and after applying the script and rebooting there was still No Audio from the Speakers, thanks for explaining what the Issue is btw

Same issue, I have deployed the fix as described here, but still no sound. Wondering if there is another solution for this problem???

It would help if one affected user files a bug report including:

  • alsa-info.sh output
  • dmesg full log
  • lspci -nnk output

This increases the chance of proper kernel support being added.

Thank you for the nudge MesterPerfect, I am new to being a full time Linux user so just trying to get ahead of some of my issues. I will definitely file a bug report!

if you install and use pavucontrol does it help?

yes i have, and no sadly it didnt help

I have the same issue with a galaxy book 5 pro. I would love it if ya’ll were able to come up with a solution. I’m down to help with a coffee or tip.

For long logs, it’s usually better to either paste them on a service like Pastebin or wrap them inside code blocks (using triple backticks ```).

Large raw logs can make the thread harder to read and scroll through, especially on mobile. Thanks!

yeah sorry, will do next time, thanks tho

Why not edit post 8 with code tags this time?
It will be good practice for the future.
Moreover, it keeps the forum legible for all users/volunteers.

just did it with pastebin, is it okay this way?

The lspci link is illegible for me.

As a practice, run the command again and post the command and output directly in this thread within code tags.
Let’s see if it’s easier to read?
