Problem Description:
New to Linux/ Ubuntu after > 4 decades Apple GUI use, just going through built-in Help app and trying out built-in Apps. Tried Rhythmbox a little bit, pasted in the url of a radio station stream and it played fine. Renamed it, all fine. Quit the app and the stream continued at least 15 min until I shut down the (Framework 13) laptop.

Relevant System Information:

Standard Framework 13 Intel Ultra 1, month old, Ubuntu the same. Nothing fancy, works fine in most other regards afaik.

Before Posting: searched for “rhythmbox”, “stream” and very few results of any kind came up, none relevant.
Yes, that is the normal operation.
Stop the playback first before quitting rhythmbox rhythmbox has operated in the background like this for a long time.
Admittedly, when closing a program, one would expect the all the functions to stop.
Nevertheless, it’s easy to get used to an application’s idiosyncrasies if used regularly.
Rhythmbox continues running in the background. To fully exit the app, right-click its icon in the dock or panel and click Stop and Exit / Quit (or similar)
Thanks @yasirel , I need to learn this new-to-me behavior in Ubuntu, I haven’t yet come across an “allow in background” setting of some sort. Maybe there isn’t one and it’s understood all apps do, or something. Lots to learn!
I thought I’d “quit” the App from the Activities view, clicking on the X in the upper right, then its thumbnail disappeared but I didn’t check if it was still in the Dock/Dash.
