I wanted to create a racoon who was standing on business or very resolute ![]()
Question do you think i should turn off the text layer? (The ubuntu 26.04 text)
I already “liked” you earlier posting with the two versions you offered.
Regarding your original submission, while your mascot doesn’t seem to follow the general trend of portrayal for the mascot, I absolutely LOVE the facial expression and stance because, for me, it seems to be trying to make a more “emotional” connection with the User. The only reservation I have on what you offered is that the image is a bit large, imposing, and “in your face”, to the point of potentially being distracting.
The more important reason for a smaller size of mascot is the intent of keeping the boot process “throbber” from being placed over the image of wordmark, the resulting overlap being less pleasing to the eye. ![]()
I think every good offering for wallpaper should have a corresponding “twin” that does not include the version, wordmark or logo/roundel.
I would also encourage submitters, if possible, to share the inputs that would facilitate end-users to further customize for their own use.
This Gimp file demonstrates the “packaging” submission I am proposing. The background image was of a different source which I then made darker, to suit my purposes: using the image for both login (with wordmark) and desktop (without wordmark).
As for a Raccoon image for Desktop wallpaper, not a competition offering, the following reference offers an image that is too cute to ignore (maybe enough to convince me to use it for my own wallpaper at some point
):
This is my current wallpaper!
