Hi, We’re evaluating Ubuntu in our VDI infrastructure, based on Dell-Wyse Thinclients and on-premise hypervisors.
We’re on “basic” RDP/AVD (no citrix, vmware, pcopip, blast etc…) Trying to use Remote Login feature from our DELL-Wyse ThinClients fails. As far as I understand, Ubuntu RDP implementation does an “Hybrid” session opening process, mimicking a broker and then redirecting to itself.
This hybrid process is not supported by the thinclient, although the client is Microsoft AVD client (packaged by DELL in its ThinOS).
The Thin-Client can either do a “direct” connection or a “broker” connection. There is no place for adjusting some rdp.ini files and add the “enableredirect” thing. Any hints ? We have to switch to xrdp which work reasonably well.. but has more latency that the build-in RDP server implementation. xrdp sessions are better with Xfce / Xfwm4 / lightdme that gnome.
(Also a common VDI scenario is to roam across clients, which does not seem possible with the build-in Remote Login feature. )
