Question Ubuntu 26.04 unable to detect AMD RAID

Ubuntu Support Template

Ubuntu Version:26.04 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable): NA

Problem Description:
Currently I have Ubuntu 20.04 installed on a system with A75M-ITM MB and 4 64GB SATA SSDs in a RAID0. The RAID0 was created using the MB utility to create RAID0, described here on the Asrock manual.

I want to upgrade to Ubuntu 26.04. I recall Ubuntu 22.04 but I chose not to upgrade for reasons I don’t recall. I don’t recall the behavior on Ubuntu 24.04.

But Ubuntu 26.04 looks nice and I want to upgrade to 26.04. But this inability to install on RAID0 is preventing me from upgrading. Anyone know why Ubuntu 26.04 maybe behaving differently? Any specific package I should install to be able to detect RAID created on the motherboard UEFI shell? TIA for your inputs.

Relevant System Information:

MB: AMD A8-3870K CPU, A75m-ITX, 16GB DDR3 DRAM, 4x 64GB SATA SSDs in RAID0 (created using MB UEFI shell)

Screenshots or Error Messages:

What I’ve Tried:

I have tried Ubuntu server 26.04 LTS as well. Similar behavior as desktop. But server at least offers the option to create SW RAID. 26.04 Desktop does not offer option to create SW RAID in the default installer.

Just in case it helps anyone. I did not find a solution for my issue, but I did find a workaround.

I removed the HW RAID0 i.e. RAID0 created in the BIOS and went to a SW RAID i.e. mdadm. But the a new problem arose. The Ubuntu desktop installer does not have options to create SW RAID in the installer and would not recognize a pre-created RAID0 (using command line mdadm commands).

So I installed Ubuntu Server minimal and then installed the Gnome desktop on top. This works but not ideal as the boot up times are longer than the regular desktop.
