Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse
English is the language here but I took the liberty of using ChatGPT to translate your post:
Good evening,
This is the first time I’m posting in this forum. Greetings and thanks to everyone.
The problem is with my sister’s computer. Until today, she has always been able to log in by entering the password, but this morning she inserted a CD, and it asked for a username and password. The problem is that she doesn’t remember the username.
She removed the CD from the drive, but to her surprise, it still asks for the username and password, and she can’t start the computer.
Is there any solution?
Thank you very much.
If you can, please post more information about the computer such as:
- make and model of the computer
- version of Ubuntu or flavour that was installed
- was encryption used during installation?
- any recent updates that might have caused a problem
We will try and do our best to help.
buenos dias
la version es 24 .04 LTS
la ultima actualizacion fue en agosto del año pasado
he encontrado que el usuario es “admin” pero no funciona
muchas gracias
Create bootable USB and backup personal data
Boot into Advanced options for Ubuntu
Select recovery mode
Choose “root Drop to root shell prompt” from the Recovery menu and press Enter
Press Enter for maintenance (to access the root shell prompt)
To get write access to the root partition execute the below command
mount -rw -o remount /
List users
ls /home
Reset the password, your sister’s username should replace the username
passwd username
Enter a new password and retype the new password to confirm it (Note: Ubuntu does not display the password you typed, just type and press Enter)
New password:
Retype new password:
passwd: password updated successfully
Password successfully changed, restart the system
reboot
Information shamelessly copied (with minor edits) from here
However, I did take the time to test it with complete success
