Yes, Neofetch sucks. Glad it’s going away. Fastfetch is there… but unfortunately not in Noble. Sorry.

That said, I got the important information there: you’re clearly running what seems to be a fairly normal LXQt installation down to the fact that your default terminal seems to be QTerminal. In fact, just looking at the menu layout in the screenshot, that’s what you’re running, not LXTerminal as you thought earlier.

Additionally, you and i seem to be both be using the VMSVGA graphics controller in VirtualBox. So I should be having similar issues… unless it’s actually the host graphics that complicates things.

That said, three more questions:

  1. What’s the host graphics and what kernel modules are you using for it? sudo lshw -class display -numeric -sanitize should answer that with sufficient detail.
  2. Which specific version of VirtualBox are you using from where? This should answer the question quite specifically: apt-cache policy $(dpkg -l | grep '^ii.*VirtualBox$' | awk '{print $2}')
  3. What was the original installation? The file /var/log/installer/media-info should answer this question.

I see now that there’s VirtualBox 7.0.24 since January 21 2025, I’ve missed that, I’ll try to install it now.

Now that was a major error. The installation of 7.0.24 failed, and I can’t install 7.0.22 back.

I think you should close the issue, it’s probably impossible to support the setup when VirtualBox behaves as it behaves.

Yes and I take it you’re on a Windows host machine, too. Best to check with the VirtualBox folks.
