Plucky Picom problems

I’ve not caught up fully on ^, as busy elsewhere and limited time for Lubuntu last few days.

back with the backend = "glx"; addition to ~/.config/picom.conf I had no issues today; 20240303 on

  • samsung 700t1c-p10aat (i5-3317u, 4gb, 3rd gen.core.intel.graphics.4000)
  • acer travelmate 5740g (i3-m530,4gb,radeon hd 5430/5450/5470)
  • dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550)
  • hp dc7700 (c2d-e6230, 7gb, amd/ati rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)
  • dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350)

problems with

  • lenovo thinkpad x201 (i5-m520, 4gb, i915)
  • lenovo g560 (i5m-480, 4gb, i915)
  • motion computing j3400 (c2d-u9400, 4gb, intel mobile 4 series)
  • lenovo thinkpad sl510 (c2d-t6570, 2gb, i915)

the last sl510 device was reported before; but I had to boot that to add the glxinfo -B output to bug report

i’ve not yet considered/tried Walter’s

here’s what I see from your bug report:

OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 24.3.4-3ubuntu1
whereas Picom seems to require ≥3.3.

I assume if you use backend = “xrender”; none of those have issues?
