Thanks for reading my topic.
Here is Lubuntu 24.04.3 kernel 6.14 using a mainboard SATA-2 with a WD HDD Purple SATA-3.
SMART attributes has reported 14 times the error message “Unsafe Shutdown Count ( Power Off Retract Off )”.
That error happen when the HD is powered off without STAND BY IMMEDIATE being the last command.
When exiting OS the done machine shutdown much faster in less of 3 seconds.
Perhaps need configure a time delay for OS to shutdown.
How to do it ?
Have a nice week.
That is the first thing that stands out for me.
Release being Ubuntu 24.04, but your details show you’re using a very outdated base-files package, as a fully updated 24.04 system will NOT report itself as being .3. Given that is one package you’ve not been applying fixes too, I wonder what else is outdated too.
The 6.14 kernel indicates you’re using HWE, with that kernel backported from Ubuntu 25.04; but that kernel was replaced with 6.17 (backported from 25.10) when 25.04 went EOL, which was itself replaced with 7.0 (backported from 26.04 after 25.10 went EOL), so you’ve not been applying security fixes to kernels either.
Those details alone are ‘warning’ flags to me, so is there a reason why you’ve not been applying fixes and security updates?
If you’re not applying security fixes; I hope you’re using that system offline.
