Hi to all
I signed up as a Patron a long time ago and just wondered if my cash will be ring fenced for MATE or will it go into the general Ubuntu pot?

Hi
I’m nothing to do with the Patreon setup, but based on my understanding at least, that Patreon is just for MATE - it’s not linked to Canonical or the wider Ubuntu project.
I imagine @Wimpress set this up…
Thanks
Jon
There’s a discussion thread about this over on the Ubuntu MATE discourse.
This is what I posted on the Ubuntu MATE Discourse:
TL;DR The Ubuntu MATE Patreon will be shut down in the next 24 hours or so.
I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who contributed over the years. The contributions have helped fund UBuntu MATE and MATE Desktop infrastructure and sponsored development that wouldn’t have happened without your support 🙇♂️
I’ve been a bit tied up with family stuff over the last week, but I’m going to contact the developers and community contributors who’ve expressed interest in maintaining Ubuntu MATE and figure out how to start handing things over. This will include handing over domains and the DNS registrar for mate-desktop to the upstream project, and it is something Ubuntu MATE has been funding for years.
I have been a monthly supporter of Mate on patreon too. If Mate is gone, can anyone suggest a new flavor I should play with? And what is the best way to monetarily support those efforts? I really like Mate because it worked on most old hardware very well. I think Mint may still be Mate based and Ubuntu based…
Ubuntu MATE is not gone, I’m just stepping back.
Since putting out the request for new maintainers, two upstream MATE Desktop developers and one Ubuntu community contributor have contacted me expressing interest in keeping the project going, and we’re currently figuring out how to hand things over.
