NVIDIA discussion and support

Thanks a lot for informing us about this beforehead. I don’t know if that’s viable, but if we can create such a thread, where you continue posting about these gaming related news? Or just Ubuntu + NVidia for each new release of both Ubuntu and NVidia. It really sounds like a great way to document things to me.

Discussing this under ‘Project Discussion > Desktop > gaming’ is OK, but maybe Nvidia deserves its own subcategory here. Not just one Nvidia thread, but a place for all Nvidia threads to live.

This is just the opinion of one moderator but I do not think this is a feasible idea because imagine if we listed tags for every device created and we can not make an exception for one device without making an exception for all devices and that is to many to list again this is just my opinioin.

It wouldn’t need to be all devices, just those with a high volume of public interest. So just Nvidia to start with.

My reasoning is that it’s harder for the average user to judge that ‘Project Discussion > Desktop’ and tag ‘gaming’ is the right place for Nvidia discussions, than to just find a subcategory called ‘Nvidia something’ which would be more obvious.

But I’m not married to either approach. It’s just a suggestion.

Moving discussion about somehow clustering NVIDIA-related topics to Site Feedback.

We have both categories and tags.

There is already an nvidia tag for discussion

  • It’s mostly used in the Kernel category currently, but it can be used in most other categories (including Desktop).

  • It cannot currently be used in the Support and Help category (use audio-and-video or gaming-and-leisure instead)

If there are many ongoing nvidia-related discussions, a master topic linking to child topics is another useful way to locate and keep track.

If there are lots of short (one-cycle) nvidia-related discussions, then simply mentioning the cycle or version in the title might be enough to avoid confusion.

If there are many nvidia-related support questions --instead of discussions-- then a new child page from the existing support master (“start here”) might be appropriate.

My apologies for the mix up with the Nvidia thing. Just updating the ubuntu team here while I test everything about it, but I will follow what @vanvugt and others give as the norm.
