No sound using Microsoft Music Producer in Wine 9.21 Ubuntu 24.04

Ubuntu Version: 24.04

Desktop Environment (if applicable): KDE Plasma

Problem Description:
I’ve gone back to an old Windows music program Microsoft Music Producer, more from nostalgia than anything.
I’ve got it running under Wine 9.21 - well, almost. I can’t seem to get any sound from it, although everything else appears to be working fine, the sound mixing bars for each instrument show movement when I press play. My Ubuntu system sound is OK and I have one other old Windows program (Quicken for Windows, an accounting program) working under Wine and that has sound just fine…

What I’ve Tried:
In Music Producer there is an option to setup sound device, with options:
Windows Default sound device
Midi through port 0
Pipewire System
UMC204HD 192k (this is my USB sound card
I’ve tried all with no success.

Winecfg->Audio gives me the option to set the default audio device from these options:
System default
Built in Audio Digital Stereo
PulseAudio output
UMC204HD 192k Audio

Again, I’ve tried all these - all of them except the built in audio give me sound when I press the test button after ‘apply’

Any suggestions very much appreciated!

This sounds like a Wine specific issue and not an Ubuntu issue. You may wish to post this in the Wine forums.

Thanks, I’ve posted the same to the WineHQ forums, but no response so far. From browsing t’internet it may be that I’m missing some 32-bit sound libraries as this is an old Windows program from 1996, but I have no idea how to check what I might be missing…
