No Restricted-Extras In The Repos?

Restricted-extras isn’t showing up in synaptic.
Was restricted-extras removed from the repos?

Are you sure you’re using the correct package name

but that wasn’t the only near-package match I saw either, eg.

lubuntu-restricted-extras/resolute,resolute 68 all
Commonly used media codecs and fonts for Lubuntu (Transitional)

(resolute listed for that one, as that’s the release I’m running)

As “ubuntu-restricted-extras”

-hope this helps-

It must be a result of something I did recently.
I switched my Lubuntu install from an “in-place install” to a “usb minimal install”.
I’m not sure why it’s not showing up in synaptic.
How do I get it installed?

Me - I am terminally mind3d:
Run:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

-one way to do it-

And simulated terminal says…

I think there is an error.

Firstly, you do not need sudo when running a simulation and the parameter is in the wrong place.

Try this,
apt install -s ubuntu-restricted-extras

ubuntu-restricted-extras is in the multiverse section of the repo.
Is the mutliverse section enabled in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu.sources ?

-hummmm—

And my file says…

WyattWhiteEagle -

Looks good should workie –
try as rubi1200 advises ^^ (sorry that I glommed over that !)

-we can punt-

And Terminal says…
“Unable to locate.”

Yukkie -poo

the command does run:

sysop@Xm2404:~$ apt install -s ubuntu-restricted-extras
NOTE: This is only a simulation!
apt needs root privileges for real execution.
Keep also in mind that locking is deactivated,
so don't depend on the relevance to the real current situation!

ubuntu-restricted-extras is already the newest version (67).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
sysop@Xm2404:~$

I be have’n to have a deeper think - presently I just do not know.

-I hate when that happens-

Just to make sure…
I’m gonna perform and update ; upgrade again…just to make sure

I got it working.
I ran update ; upgrade then ran the restricted-extras install command.
Didnt restart to seed the update ; upgrade.
It seems the restricted-extras weren’t detectable in the repos until I rebooted the system again.

I have to question that source. Makes no sense to me that all the release repos are autided. I would expect only one mirror here for access.

Were me - in the GUI “Software & Update” > “download from” > Other > “Select Best Server”.

-can not hurt to try-

“Select best server” isn’t in my Software Center here on Lubuntu 24.04.

Looking at the Lubuntu manual docs about it…I may find it in Lubuntu.
I’ll let yall know.

UPDATE
I found it…hopin’ it don’t take long.

Um…it says that Hong Kong has the best mirror for me.
How could that be?
I’m in Georgia, USA.
