New Ubuntu Respin Idea

Hello Ubuntu Community,
My name is Rinkesh More.

I am currently working on a custom Ubuntu-based project called Tridals AI OS. This project is focused on AI-powered Ubuntu customization, retro OS design, intelligent notifications, EFI customization, and environment mode selection features.

The project is still under active development and full customization work is currently in progress. At the moment, the development setup is running on a single SSD inside an HP Z820 Workstation.

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on a Ubuntu-based AI operating system project designed for old and low-end hardware to provide a lightweight, stable, and efficient Linux experience. One of the main features of this project is a “Mode Select” system where users can choose different modes such as Hospital Mode, College Mode, Industrial Mode, Gaming Mode, and more, with each mode optimized for its specific environment and workflow.

The project focuses on low memory usage, fast boot time, lightweight design, and improved performance on older systems. I am also sharing screenshots, development updates, and the ISO file is available on the Internet Archive for testing and feedback.

I would appreciate feedback, suggestions, and guidance from the Ubuntu community to help improve the project and make it more stable and user-friendly. I am posting this here because I am still learning which Ubuntu category is best for this project, and I would appreciate your feedback and review so I can explain the project in more detail and continue improving it.

Your efforts might need to incorporate an additional “foundational” component to establish the scope of later “tuning” for either

  • Desktop mode,       or
  • Server mode

and for the latter, a further “tweaking” to address the specific scope of

  • public-facing firewall/gateway,
  • LAN-based firewall for security compartmentalization internally,       or
  • role-based servers (i.e. mail, database, web, honeypot, etc.)

Thank Sir you very much for your valuable suggestions and guidance.

Currently, Tridals AI OS is a development-stage project focused on AI-based Ubuntu customization and smart user interaction features for normal desktop PC users. Work is still in progress, and I am continuously trying to improve the system.

I would also like to know your opinion about the overall idea of this project. What do you think about this concept, and what kind of improvements, optimizations, or additional features would you suggest for future development?

Your feedback and recommendations would help me improve the project further and better understand advanced system design concepts.

Thank sir you again for reviewing my project and sharing your guidance.

I really think you would do yourself a big favour by reviewing my comments regarding the evolution, and incorporation, of AI into Ubuntu distributions.

That will give you a better sense of my stance vis-à-vis AI technology and how “intelligence” needs to be incorporated.

Thank you for the guidance.
I understand your point regarding meaningful AI integration instead of only adding surface-level AI features.
I will definitely review your comments carefully and try to improve the project architecture and implementation approach in future development.

Have you watched the opening talk at the Ubuntu Summit 26.04? It was given by Mark Shuttleworth (CEO) and Jon Seager (VP engineering). They talk about the future development of Ubuntu and AI a lot.

I do not know you. It is your privilege to work on any software project you chose. And Open Source is open source for that reason.

I put my trust in the Ubuntu software engineers to understand both the usefulness of AI agents writing code and the risks of doing that. Also, of the benefits and risks of allowing Ubuntu users to run AI agents on their systems.

What do you feel about Snap packaging? Some people want nothing to do with it. Ubuntu will use Snap packaging to control/restrict/confine AT agents from wrecking the user’s OS.

My point is this. if you do not like snap packaging then you will be limited to how much this new OS will be based on Ubuntu. So, be careful about making claims.
