AWS has announced some exciting new instance types, and Ubuntu and Ubuntu Pro are fully certified for them, ensuring you get top-tier performance on the latest kernels (such as the 7.0 kernel for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS Resolute Raccoon).
What’s new:
- AWS Graviton 5: Offers up to 25% better compute performance than Graviton 4, optimized for agentic AI and HPC workloads. Now available on C9g, C9gd, M9g, and M9gd instances.
- AWS G7 Instances: Powered by NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs.
Getting started:
Graviton 5 instances are supported out of the box. With Ubuntu 26.04 Resolute Raccoon, you’ll get the latest 7.0 kernel for getting the maximum performance out of these machines.
If you’re spinning up NVIDIA 4500 Blackwell G7 instances, check out our official guide to install the drivers in minutes. Also, remember that Ubuntu 26.04 includes CUDA toolkit directly from the repository for easier setup:
