Network Brother Laser DCP-L2620DW printer won't install under Noble - how install correctly?

Ubuntu Version

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable)

GNOME

Problem Description

This printer is installed Ok on my Ubuntu Noble desktop but it won’t install on my laptop. I can ping the printer (having given it a fixed NAT ip address of 192.168.178.23 in my router) but when I try to find using that address it gives me 3 options: JetDirect, LPD and DCP-2620DW (the last one not showing 192.168.178.23 but instead some sort of strange address from my Fritz!Box router).

I’ve tried downloading & installing the “Install Driver Tool” from Brother Support’s site but that doesn’t work. Their support say that they have no method to install the driver for the printer when networked!

Silly me. The desktop (Wired connection) and printer (wifi connection) were on one network and the laptop (wifi connection) was on another network. As soon as connected the laptop to the same network as the desktop & printer, I could print from the laptop.
