Need a little info about Ubuntu Server

Hello Eric I just wanted to know if there was something similar to True Nas for Ubuntu server. The UI on True Nas is great and and pretty easy to understand

But for many years I’ve been curious about Ubuntu server being that I use their desktop environments

I am not an network expert but use a server to run a home assistant vm, a deluge podman container and plex server (snap). I tried to put cockpit on ubuntu server but ran into network problems because cockpit needed networkmanager and ubuntu server uses networkd. I am sure there is a way to fix this but I ran out of time and ultimately just installed fedora server / cockpit. So just research that before installing cockpit on ubuntu server.

A prior ubuntu server I had used webmin for a web ui which worked well for my modest needs.

If you’re running a NAS then you’ll be using Samba…? You can tweak /etc/samba/smb.conf easily using SSH. If you are using SFTP/SSHFS then I recommend SSH keys but the permissions are granted based on the ACLs of the directories you are accessing…

Thank you so much for the tips I’ll keep it in mind. This is my first time setting up a server so there’s a lot of questions I have about servers

Thanks again much appreciated
